Continuing with our 2016 Sexual Assault Awareness Month Tour, we visited the School of the Art Institute in Chicago to speak with Title IX administrators, faculty and staff, and students about the JARRING III project. A pop up exhibition of the JARRING III books was presented by the artist alongside a lecture discussing local sexual assault survivor resources including campus resources, and how to address social justice issues in fine art praxis. A question and answer session at the end of the lecture invited students to share their own experiences addressing trauma through artwork. The JARRING III books have since been placed in the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection where students can experience them for generations to come. All proceeds from this purchase have been donated to the local organization Rape Victim Advocates.
